99% of posts about suspension blocks are about stiffer blocks, but I’m coming from a fat tire Electra Townie at 45 psi, and WOW, the Brompton was a **harsh ride**! My wife and I just both got CHPT3 v4’s after much convincing, but she hates it. I want her happy since it was a pretty penny. 🙂

So immediately I’m going to go from 100 to 65 psi on tire pressure. But…

I’m also looking for a **softer** suspension block, **not** stiffer/harder like everyone else. I’m guessing the CHPT3 comes with a stiff block, as it’s marketed at performance-minded dudes. I was impressed by the videos of the 8IR+ ([https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQfzoOKY9R8](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mQfzoOKY9R8)), but it’s not available. So I found this other one which is carbon fiber and appears to be a similar design: [https://www.fantastic4toys.com/products/carbon-air-suspension-block-for-brompton-bicycle?variant=36781665026214](https://www.fantastic4toys.com/products/carbon-air-suspension-block-for-brompton-bicycle?variant=36781665026214). I like these because they’re adjustable, so if it’s too soft or firm, we can air up or down.

Does anyone have any experience with softer suspension blocks? Any advice for a Brompton noob? Thanks in advance!

  1. I could do with a softer one for my T Line. Similar weight (67kg) but bike is stiff as hell and the roads are rough.
