In Summer 2021, after finishing my studies, I wanted to have a journey that would have pushed me to my limits. I prepared all the gear, packed my bike in a cardboard box and flew to Iceland. After 5 days of quarantine (offered by the Icelandic Red Cross) I started cycling.

It has been really tough at times since Icelandic weather is very harsh due to strong winds, low temperatures and persistent rains. In Iceland there are no trees, no shelters that protect you.

  1. Really nice! I’m thinking about doing something similar – but am unsure about wild camping, it’s quite restricted. How was your experience with it overall? Did you just randomly put up your tent or did you have to avoid certain areas like nature reserves?

  2. Hello, just want to ask some questions, I have been planning to do a 40 day bike packing trip across Iceland but do you think it would be a problem if I merely come there with little money. I am quite minimalist actually.
