Hi guys,
Looking for some suggestions for a compatible groupset I could upgrade to for my 2011 Felt AR5. It currently has 10sp Shimano 105 (I believe the 5700 series??) I really like the frame and it’s in really good condition so that’s why I’m just wanting to upgrade the groupset
Hoping to only spend between $1000-$1500
I have my eye on the Shimano 105 di2 but unsure if it will be compatible. Any issues I need to look out for or check for?
Thanks

105 Di2 is disc brake only. So that’s not happening.
Ultegra Di2 has rim brake options. A lightly used set could be a good choice.
Apart from rim brakes you need to check if your hub is made for 11 speed or not. Your bike is of the age where it could go either way…if it’s a 9/10 speed hub it just means you can’t use an 11-28t or 11-32t cassette…you can however use an 11-34t cassette because those do not require the new wider freehub body splines. If you live in a very flat area this could be a bummer, having to choose a “climbing” cassette.
To find out, you need to remove your cassette and measure the spacers behind it. A single 1mm spacer means you have a 9/10 speed hub which will require an 11-34t. If you have 2.8mm of spacers then your hub is compatible with everything.
105 di2 wont fit easily and you won’t feel much difference. Invest money in good tires, tpu tubes and carbon wheels.
