On the 26th June 2013 I completed a Triathlon in Belarus which included swimming 1km in a pool or lake, then cycling 25 km and running 10 km through the forests outside the capital, Minsk.
This was an Olympic/Intermediate ‘Triathlon-Light’ so just shorter on the swim and bike sections. Sorrow to Hope and Dignity will be my theme.
The Belarusian Children’s Hospice, (BCH) is the focus of my fundraising through Friends BCH in the UK. I would be delighted if you could sponsor me in aid of this rather rare and deserving cause. BCH in Minsk came to my attention three years ago and I have been over there several times and spent time visiting the hospice. Friends of BCH (UK) supports this ground-breaking hospice, which provides palliative care for children and young adults with life-threatening or life-limiting illnesses and helps their families to look after them at home. All the Hospice’s services are provided free-of-charge and I have seen for myself the wonderful support given by the very caring and determined staff. Do visit their website www.friends-bch.org.uk for more information.
Belarus has wonderful people and a rare spirit but rather challenging economic and other circumstances – the children and their parents need whatever support we can give them now more than ever. To give them this support just press the ‘Donate now’ button on this page.
