  2. Just relabel it as something like “artisanal banana jerky”. Your cycling friends will be impressed and ask you to share

I often forget food in my bag, which is why I now put perishable food in my pockets and bars, gels and jerky in the handlebar bag.

This reminds me of the numerous times we would fuck with employee bikes when I worked in the production department of a decent sized mountain bike manufacturer.

Anytime one of us bought a complete bike and it was making its way through the line we’d wait for the excited new owner to grab lunch or coffee and do things like put lunch meat in the handlebars before grips got installed. One of my favorites was when I put ham in the bottom bracket of a co-worker’s bike and he didn’t discover it until like three months later when liquified meat got all over his garage while he was wrenching. I couldn’t keep a straight face when he asked if it was me, I was busted hard.

I got mine for that, though, cause the same day he called me out for doing it was the first time I broke a bone during a ride. Super-man’ed off a drop and broke my collarbone. Guess who drove me to the hospital? 😂 25 year old me was a real dick.
