I’m looking at getting my first Brompton for commuting to via trains. I’m currently interested in this older 3 speed version (https://www.facebook.com/marketplace/item/886830706007022/) which I think is a 2001 model based on the marking on the frame (165617). It’s listed for £700 and I’m not sure if this is a lot for an older bike. Based on my research I can get newer models for similar prices.
Despite this it does look like it’s in very nice condition with the upgraded seat and it also comes with a Brompton bag for the front and also a bag for the bike.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated!
2001 is old enough that parts availability/reverse compatibility may become a problem.
Unless you really want a vintage model, for that kind of money you could get something that will be a lot less stressful to maintain. 2004 is when they adopted the current frame geometry that most spares are designed to fit.
I would offer 500 for that year
