If the chain turned that color only right after your ride, then it’s mud.
If that chain turned that color after storage, then it’s rust.

Rust. Rust can be cleaned easily if it does not come from the surface it is on. e.g. maybe the rust is from your cassette, or chainrings, or inside the chain links, and got spread on the outside of the chain. Looks like it dripped on the frame and wheel as well.

I am going to go for rust mixed with all the detritus that’s kicking about on the roads making a rust milkshake on your chain, clean and lube it else you will be replacing a broken one sooner than you wanted to
