I’m trying to decide between sizes on a new Soloist (and luckily enough have been able to find both). I’ve test ridden both sizes but find it hard to discern fit on a test ride. I’m also not able to bring both to a fitter for obvious reasons, and the bikes being at different shops makes it’s hard to trust in-store opinions.

I have a Diverge in a 54 (pictured) and have been using that to get a relative sense of the differences in geometry (overlays of both sizes against a 54 Diverge also pictured).

I have a primitive build at 173cm/5’8” and an inseam of 77cm/30”. Other measurements are also pictured. I’m a bit of a white ape.

I may have to suck up to $300 to get some guru with a guru to tell me what’s best, but I’m hoping some internet strangers may be able to offer some advice/insight ahead of that.

Much thanks.

Oh, and upper arm/lower arm are reversed in those competitive cyclist tables. I am not the bartender from the Tommy the Cat video.

  2. Smaller frame looks like you can stick the tip of your shoe into the spokes if you turn the wheel. Check for that as well.
