British (and Irish) beef farmers should be celebrated in this country; the UK enjoys almost perfect growing conditions for raising grass-fed beef yet the UK media constantly blame farmers for climate change.
In this video I explain why this is and why the recent Channel 4 documentary titled The Big British Beef Battle got it so spectacularly wrong.

  1. That was an extraordinarily idiotic programme fronted by a comedian who had no idea about the research. Very irresponsible piece of TV. However, we could use our land better in UK since we are one of the most dead regions on flora and fauna in the world. And run off from livestock pollutes our water. Of course, there is pressure to go US style mega farms where the livestock stay inside and are fed artificially all their lives.

  2. My heart goes out to all the people who are victimized, maybe not intentionally, by the green brigade. The ill informed , ill educated fools pushing the political agendas. Agendas that have nothing to do with the health of people or the planet and everything to do with making money for the wealthy and political.

  3. We need CO2 the plants need it. During the peak of the last glaciation CO2 levels in the atmosphere fell to 30 ppm above the death of plants. Mankind has saved life from certain demise by burning fossil fuels and burning lime to make concrete. It's a fascinating story, life finding a way to save life by replacing carbon lost from the atmosphere due to calciferous animals and carboniferous trees. When I listen to the activists and people in power now I'm convinced that the lunatics have taken over the asylum.

  4. Dear Harry. It is not that the anti meat propagandists haven't read the British stats. They have but they ignore them in the interest of demonizing beef production. They are lying, to support the agenda they favour. It is just the same with the anti carbon coalition. They are lying too, to bring down the Western industrial civilization that they oppose. OK, I know that you are a farmer, but you are a key part of it, of our way of life. You probably don't have time to study the physics of heat loss from the earth, and the role of CO2 in it, but if you did you would understand that the AGW, anthropogenic global warming agenda is also a lie. Keep doing what you do. You have seen through the lies, as they apply to your area of expertise. It goes deeper than this though. It's all lies, and from the father of lies. Great post, thank you.

  5. Harry, it’s not grassland CO2 or your lovely UK grassland. it’s the fact that meat consumption is reducing. You only produce what your customers demand. If you didn’t demand your lovely exotic cars no one would produce them! I have worked in Ag for the last 15 years and please do not rely on the AHDB figures as they are completely biased. Olive oil is extremely beneficial animal fat is not. Don’t argue against the science it’s too compelling. Cattle produce considerable methane. Too many people, to many animals we need to think differently and I am not an environmentalist.

  6. An excellent explanation in support of UK farming but the problem is the eco-zealots aren't interested, they just want all meat eating stopped, car driving continually reduced in terms of distance and speed and, preferably, no driving at all. The main thing is market forces. Eat meat if you want to, give a bit of thought as to where it's produced, buy an EV if you want to but don't be pressured if it's not for you. Behave like an independent thinking adult. As regards beautiful scenery, I work in the Yorkshire Dales and it's fantastic as the result of generations of good farming management. It's not luck or coincidence.

  7. Great video, and excellent information. People need to be informed better, however mainstream media does not help. I live in Scotland and went on carnivore diet 7 months ago. Never felt better and healthier. I also support local butchers now as much as I can. It was a different story in the past years when all I thought was to minimise environmental impact by eating less meat. I was constantly hungry eating plant foods and was getting sicker and sicker. One thing I know as long as we have farmers we will have food, as long as we farm livestock this country will have beautiful healthy landscape with lots of meadows and healthy population.

  8. I'm a meat eater and always will be. There are things that annoy me about farmers today tho. They are not the experts they believe they are, majority of them are actually just ignorant and stuck in their same ways they have been shown.
There is absolutely no reason to have vast open grassland for cattle. Cattle will happily eat leaves, shrubs, berries and many other things and that mix would actually be better for them. Cattle farmers should be growing back the mixed hedgerows that have been ripped out over the years and growing mixed woodlands back that cattle would be happy to live in along with chickens, deer, pheasant, pigs and every other edible animal in the uk. Trees absorb carbon as well as supply food and shelter.
Modern day mass farming is not as productive as a mixed smallholding style farming.
Greed is a problem and the fact mad cows disease was created by farmers turning cattle into cannibals by feeding them feed with cattle products in just proves how stupid and greedy they can be.
Farming is the same as every other business. Make as much money as possible as easy as possible and cut every corner you can to make that happen.

  9. Its not at all proven that people are entirely behind climate change anyway. There are legitimate questions to ask about the narrative of human production of CO2, and its actual effect on the environment. Global warming depends entirely on when you start measuring. We are at the tail end of an ice age, and warming is inevitable. Land use, habitat destruction and change is far, far worse for our world, but they seem to scarcely get a mention by the Greta's and extinction mob. Without firm action against this lunatic narrative it'll spill over into our lives and cause actual damage. Witness thousands of people flying to an oil rich land, to discuss how to prevent me and mine from taking a fortnight's holiday in Spain.

  10. Our uk farmers should all say fuc€ off to defra and the government say sod your subsidies our uk farmers often own hundreds of acres worth up to and above 10 a acre so let's value up a 300 acre farm including the farm house and barns buildings and tractors machines and livestock there is easy 5 million pounds there and defra has been paying subsidies to millionaire s like that for years so there paying the rich to be rich farmers dont need any help they can just sell some of there gear or land they will be fine whatever the government does to them one of my mates owns a farm land and assets to the tune of over 15million he thinks it's a joke the government pays him these farmers added together could buy parliament they are the richest in the country period

  11. Bravo Sir, not a farmer myself but live in Cornwall and see the impact of ignorance all to frequently. Local schools would benefit from a presentation like that, as I did. Thank you

  12. The cabal don’t want independent farmers producing food,it’s about controlling the food supply,is it just a coincidence that a certain computer software salesman whose surname rhymes with mates is now the biggest landowner in America?

  13. It has nothing to do with "climate change" and everything to do with left wing politics. It has nothing to do with numbers, its all about narrative and control. Fight back, not through youtube but through bringing farmers together and then use your control of the supply chain to ensure you have a voice and it is listened to.

  14. I wouldn't go near S. American beef! There's nothing natural about it. The drugs they're given all will end up inside whoever consumes the meat. It should be illegal !

  15. Insightful video.
It sheds light on a concerning trend where the media seems to have a collective agenda promoting the so-called green movement. Rather than conducting unbiased research, there appears to be a reluctance, driven by a fear that thorough investigation might contradict the narrative. This selective approach to information is worrisome, as it could be utilized to manipulate public opinion and advance the interests of powerful corporations seeking to control freedoms and instill fear.

The figures presented in support of the green agenda are not just neutral statistics but tools strategically wielded for specific advantages. As someone intimately connected to agriculture, being a farmer's son and actively involved in trading on global markets, I foresee a troubling future for farming, especially in the dairy sector. The impending demise, within a decade or two, of dairy farming in the UK seems plausible. This demise isn't a natural outcome but a consequence of corporations with vested financial interests pushing for the adoption of alternative products under the guise of environmental salvation.

The risk is that people, swayed by the notion of "saving the planet," might unknowingly contribute to a corporate land grab. The ease with which globally transported "plant milk" can replace local dairy products is a potential catalyst for this transformation. The situation echoes patterns seen in the agricultural landscapes of countries like the Netherlands and New Zealand, where corporate interests have reshaped the industry.

This issue extends beyond agriculture; it is a cautionary tale about the manipulation of public perception and the potential consequences for entire industries. Farmers and their unions, whether unwittingly or complicit, may find themselves facing a bleak future if these trends continue unchecked. It's a call for vigilance and critical thinking in the face of seemingly noble causes that may conceal ulterior motives.

  16. Brilliant to hear the truth from a real farmer. So good to see animals grazing in a more natural looking landscape How can monocrop farming be good for the environment definitely not natural. Pesticides fertilisers all transported around the world. Bet they don’t add that in the figures. All the plastic wrappings and cardboard used to sell the products( most not real food) the transport to move all the separate ingredients around the world. Don’t add that in there graphs either. That is ruining or environment not farm animals when done in a sustainable environment. Most environmental problems are our overlords ( mega rich and big pharma big food)forcing farmers to grow unsuitable crops in areas that can’t support the water needs or vast areas of there natural plants and animals cleared to monocrop. Are the foods they are telling us to eat that good for us or are they the one that make the most money on. They certainly aren’t making the world population healthier or our environment better no matter how they fix there data !!! that’s clear to see….

  17. Looking at your land, it's still an ecocidal ecological desert. While I accept the carbon argument to an extent, it's still an ecological moonscape and is no way "environmental". Stop with the greenwash.

  18. All this climate change nonsense comes from the WEF
    ESGs
    Environmental Sustainability
    Goals.Harry.

    World economic forum.

They have done flawed surveys that indicate a global population boom that would consume all the world's resources.
So enact plans to restrict future populations.
15 minute cities, congestion charging, ulez emissions zones, net zero, speed limiters in cars, baanning of private car ownership, the push for EVs.
    ..
    The banning of meat,
Personal carbon credita, social media credit scoring.

Its all designed to limit the freedoms (and in theory emissions) of future populations.

  19. The only problem with your argument, Harry, is that methane is about 30 times more powerful at adding to global warming than CO2. So look at farming the same way but adding the seaweed cow food additive that reduces methane production in cows.
