Yeah. But probably not as wide of a tire.
currently running 27×2.4 tires on 34mm internal width rims, i can fit a finger on each side of the tires with some extra space
I really doubt it. It’s possible that you might, but it’s not likely. You’ll need smaller thinner tyres to have a better chance of it though.
29 x 2.2.
If I’m looking at the right year – [SRAM states the max clearance on that fork is 27.5 x 2.8″](https://www.sram.com/globalassets/document-hierarchy/compatibility-map/suspension/gen-6116-model-year-2020-tire-compatibility_en-rev-a.pdf).
[A 27.5 x 3.0″ is approximately the same the same outer diameter as a 29 x 2.2mm](https://www.mtbr.com/threads/27-5-how-close-to-29.1067062/#lg=thread-1067062&slide=0); but obviously a lot narrower.
So you’d probably get away with a 29×2.1 but anything beyond that will be getting pretty tight near the arch.
Any friend with a 29 that would let you test fit?
I have a 27.5/29 swappable fork (trek ex8 small 2020) but the 27+ usually means wider tire not a larger radius.
I have tried this, and the answer, for me at least, was no.
