Is this normal or should it be sitting perfectly flush like the front?
This is my first bike with through-axles, I’ve been practicing getting the wheel in and out of the rear dropouts. I have to confess it’s been giving me grief.

It’s worth noting that everything else is sitting flush and tight to the frame, including the other end of the through axle and also the derailleur hanger.
It’s normal. Some frames you’ll get it flush, others the axle can stick out a small amount. It all depends on the axle and the end cups on the wheels. As long as it’s threaded in a decent amount (50% of the threads of more) it will be fine!
