Hi Rob – I have heard of the Foals and Bloc Party, but I have never listened to them, but I have heard some tracks from the Bombay Bicycle Club. Did Slow Show take their name from the National track entitled Slow Show?
Hi Rob. I was curious to see what you'd pick … I really like Bombay Bicycle Club. I like bands where you can see progression from one album to the next. They were excellent on a recent Later With Jools Holland … Nice words about Norman Maslov, and Lloyd Boon.
I really like Jane Weaver, have her albums downloaded, nothing on vinyl yet. Her "Flock" album is really good. I'll have to check out the other bands you showed, great video, Rob. Cheers!
Hi Rob – I really like the debut Bloc Party album Silent Arm. It's an intense affair. Andy Bell smoothly seguewaying from Ride to Oasis was impressive. Forget promotion , Norwich are in a fight to avoid relegation. Very disappointing squad. Happy Holidays 🎄 !
Blimey Rob, couldn’t you have looked more grumpy in that thumbnail? 😂 I do like Bloc Party actually but never bought anything by them, hopefully one day I’ll remedy that 👍🏼
Hey, Nostalgia hasn't hit the 2000s generation yet, wait 10 years & it will. At moment I can't get enough 90's indie/alt rock for my Irish customers. Also there are too many ole ones on the Youtube 'VC', they wouldn't know this music.
11:17 who painted that cover? It looks just like Nicole Eisenman. While you're looking that up for me, please put a link in the description for Lloyd boon world of music 2. Cheers.
Nice! Definitely don't see much Bloc Party. Loved the hell outta that first LP; saw them at Coachella, I believe. Maybe the Sasquatch festival as well. Dang that was a long time ago. Great list! Only thing missing I think was Doves. LOVE Doves. Lost Souls seems like one of those LPs I'm gonna overpay for one day. Cheers, Rob. Enjoyed! 😁
Hi Rob, interesting picks, Several I've heard of but not heard much from…Silent Alarm was a popular CD with the family in the car back in the day. Not spun any Jane weaver for a while so thanks for the prompt. Good luck…cheers Dale
Hi Rob… some interesting choices mate, i own albums by Foals, Bombay Bicycle Club, Friendly Fires i am playing The National in the car today so i will check out Slow Show. a great entry mate – Lloyd
Cool, some more great bands that I need to check out. I love the art work on that Everything Everything album, that's worth the price of admission by itself. I have heard of Bloc Party, but I guess I've never paid much attention to them before. The Friendly Fires art work is beautiful too, very nice. Some very interesting bands that I need to check out there and excellent response to the contest!
Hi Rob, Bloc Party are a funny band for me. I bought Silent Alarm when it came out, really enjoyed it, then completely lost sight of them. I must reconnect. I like BBC, and agree that it’s great name, I have a few of theirs. Friendly Fires excellent band. Slow Show sound interesting, I know nothing of them but I do like The National still have to check them out. Good luck in Lloyd’s contest. Mike
Hi Rob/ don't think you ever got around to showing your Top 10 American Bands, you mentioned The Beach Boys were in it. I'm friends with original Beach Boy Al Jardine, some former back up band members on Faccebook and a couple others associated with the group. I guess better late than never. Continued success with your website.
Thanks for sharing Rob, cool selection , well you made me want to listen to the Friendly Fires album you showed (which i have never heard of). Thanks for the recommendation, its a very cool one, indeed. Cheers
I don't know The Slow Show. I'll check them out. I have something from the rest, bar Andy Bell and Palace. Only Jane Weaver on vinyl, though. Have you heard Fenella and their 2022 album, The Metalic Index? It's a Jane Weaver side project, mostly instrumental electronica. Nice record. Thanks for the shout-out, Rob. I appreciate that. I'll be starting my advent calendar-style countdown of my top 24 new releases of 2023 tomorrow. Just a short daily video. Cheers Rob
Thank you for showing us artist that for most have know knowledge of….I’ve checked out The Slow Show and on your recommendation have just ordered a bit of their vinyl….thanks for the video…👍👏
Great thread! Forget squinting at that dead wax or drowning in streams, share new music with me! I had only heard of The Foals…and of course, Andy Bell. Excited to listen to all of the others you mentioned!!!
i watch a lot of these VC videos bc im a music lover but i have to actually say this. These people for the most part have freaking horrible taste in music. Subjective or objective, no matter. NOBODY talks about FOALS. They have dominated for over a decade now and are the best modern band on the planet. I see people left and right showing off Kiss records. KIss off
Excellent video, must make note out of Foals. Bloc Party are excellent, got them on CD. That Bombay album looked a LOT like thay Zero 7 album, When It Falls! Mostly unknown artists for me, taking notes, I LOVE that Carly Simon album! Also lovely kitty. Thank you our Rob 😊

Hi Rob! Your cat looks like a distant relative of Colton! I only knew Bombay Bicycle Club from your list. Clearly I am behind the times. ✌

Thank you for bringing up Bloc Party. I saw them last year out here in California. Kele also did a DJ set that was great. Love that band.
Thanks for your great taste Rob! You are one of the few keeping it fresh.

Cool, unfamiliar with most of these bands, so will check them out. Rob, you know what we in the US call a “zimmer frame”, right? A walker!

Watched. No comment.
Foals definitely doesn't get a lot of love (at least shown) in the community. Never understand why. Cheers Rob.
Excellent submission, wish I had more time to post more videos as I am sure some of my taste especially in the dance music genre would appeal to you
I give Jane Weaver the thumbs up, if that's the right expression.
I did see Bloc Party at a Mystery Shopping assignment a few years ago.
Inhaler! And The Slow Show are really good.
I saw Foals at a music festival in Atlanta, GA, USA. I had heard of them but they were a huge draw and a packed crowd. I loved the show.
