  1. I didn’t do it; my guess would be remove the stopper and its nuts, and maybe a deep socket can fit.

    I refitted a rear brake yesterday; just do it hand tight with a spanner and don’t worry too much about it, it’s a 16″ wheel bicycle not a motorcycle 🙂

  3. Crows foot might fit if you must use a torque wrench, but based on the comments very few people care that much.

    It’s a bit of a faff anyway keeping the brake centered when doing up that nut.

  4. Firm hand tightening of the brake binder bolt nut approximates 10 Nm. In general the 10 Nm torque specification is to insure safe guarding the rear extremity cross tube, such that the brake is firm to the tube, but that the tube is not crushed (deformed) by the torquing of the nut. So take up the nut until it mates the washers to the cross tube and then tighten approx. 1/8 to 1/4 turn to make the nut firm.
