I just bought my first gravel bike: Scott Gravel Speedster 40. This particular model comes with a fender kit. I live in a region where I want to keep it on the bike during winter because it rains a lot and I don’t want to be soaking wet every time I ride after it had rained.
The issue is that my rear axle is a QR (with handle) but right next to it is a screw hole, where the bolt for the fenders attachment goes in. This head of the bolt is on the way of the QR axle and in order to take of the wheel when, for example, I have a tire puncture, I have to unscrew the fender bolt and then to remove the QR axle. Has anyone else noticed it? Also the handle of the QR axle scratches the rear brake calliper on every cycle when unscrewing. Its nonsense. Should I contact Scott for this thing?

My bicycle is only 17 years old.
I suspect its just the type of thru-axle; you can likely swap it out for one that uses a hex wrench or DT Swiss RWS. If it was a QR, you’d just rotate the cam lever.
I’m pretty sure that’s a thru axle and not a QR/ quick release
Go to YouTube and search for adjusting through axles
That way you’ll be able to make sure that the grab handle on your through axle is way pointed horizontal or 45° or whatever you need to make sure that the eyelet hole for your fender bracket is not being impeded
Another option would be to get a high quality aftermarket brand of through axle that uses a hex nut and is flush with the frame to replace the OEM one.
Talk to the LBS that sold your bike. Also if you are in the PNW or a similarly rainy locale…ask em about click on or bolt on fender tails front and rear. Extend the stock ones you added further down.
Yes, sorry for the wrong info. It is indeed a thru axle with a handle. I am already in a search for an axle that uses a hex nut. It’s just frustrating that the manufacturer didn’t see that.

The lever is not fixed in place you can pull it out from the axle.
Scott supplies the tool to remove the wheels and it’s usually fixed to the rear wheel like in your case.
