I have these Trek winter shoes riding in 35F and below weather they are not working for me. Does anyone have a recommendation? I was looking at the Shimano MW7, I don’t know if they would be warmer. Riding in various conditions a mix of single track here in Boise. If anyone has first hand knowledge of a warm shoe please let me know. I have been trying to sort through reviews and haven’t found a review the really address this

Both my wife and I have had the MW81s which is the precursor to the shimano winter shoes before they split them at two price points. We have ridden road/mtb/gravel in them down to 14 F and beyond with no problems. Been using them for at least 15 years now, probably a bit longer, actually.
Have you tried wearing gaiters over your shoes? I wore mine with my regular shoes and some thicker socks and didn’t have any problem at 30 degrees (at least with my feet, my hands are my biggest weak point in cold riding)

Take a look at the Lake boots. I have the MXZ400, which would be too warm for you, but they make lighter models too. I also have some Mavic Thermo Crossmax boots that are good for the temperature you are talking about.
I just use flats and hiking shoes but I am a weirdo.
Look into heated insoles, cheaper, will keep your feet much warmer.
I wear Sugoi shoe covers and they keep my feet very warm. I don’t use them mountain biking but they work on the road well (which is colder) and will use for gravel.

Add shoe covers with hot hands inside.
I wear Lake MX241’s all year round, but add Neoprene overshoes and Woolie Boolie socks when the temperature drops.
But if you want dedicated winter shoes, several of my cycling friends swear by Lake and 45Nrth.
Shimano winter shoes are amazing (from experience) and make are super popular in my old riding group from the Midwest too. I’ve never really heard much about trek shoes in general so I just assume they aren’t super compelling products… but if they’re on sale for super cheap compared to the established players could be worth a shot.
I rode with this one yesterday. It snowed the hole day i was about 3h on the bike with an 1h brake.
Also schwalbes ice spike tires work great on semi frozen roads. Snow up to the shin.
These shoes kept my foot warm with old socks.

For me, I’d focus on the socks not the shoes. I wear sealskinz thick waterproof, plus another pair of socks inside. Still have all my toes after years.
I just picked up some Fizik TERRA ARTICA GTX and rode them on a 50 mile trip today. Fantastic, toasty, and water proof.
