The rear shifter is not “catching” when trying to shift down to a smaller cog. I noticed it shifts if I force the shifter forward before shifting inward, but still not 100% and difficult to do from a riding position. Any easy fix?

Easiest fix of all time apparently! Sprayed in some penetrating lube and worked the shifter until it started working! Now it’s catching every click!! Assumed build-up would have made the shifter stiff, not move freely, so first thought wasn’t to un-stick anything.
