Hey there! My usual commuter bike (Avanti road bike) was hit by a car recently and the frame is damaged beyond repair.

A friend gave me this old frame he’s been holding onto. I’d like to put the components from my Avanti onto this frame so I can have a commuter bike at the ready.

Just wondering if anyone had any insight or advice as to how I’d go fitting a rear derailleur on? I have a Shimano Tiagra RD 4700. I’m not sure what was on it previously as I just received the frame and fork.

Also what are these little arrow shaped nubs for ? See pic #2

Claw hanger, as was already suggested.

However check your rear dropout spacing. This frame may be spaced at 120mm, a modern wheel will be 130mm. The modern wheel would not fit the vintage frame without cold setting the frame.
