i just changed the rear sprocket and chainring on my dirt jumper and now this is happening. before i knew about the problem i took it for a ride and it was making a loud clanging sounds and the chain would fall off every 30 seconds or so. i installed both sprocket and chainring at home so there’s a good chance i managed to mess something up (i don’t think it is the rear sprocket but im not an expert) please let me know what i can do to fix my dj at home. i’m not looking to go to my LBS. thanks

why is this happening?

  1. Check the your chain line, try to eyeball from the rear if your chain ring is wobbling, or if you need to reduce the number of spacers behind the chain ring.

  2. Probably your chainring is not 100% round, kind of an oval, and so in one position it tenses up.
