  1. Your chainring is shot. Completely worn out. It will ruin your new chain. Good chance you need a new cassette too at this point.

  2. There is no way you need one of those of you have a not totally worn out narrow wide chairing and a rear derailleur with a clutch. I don’t even drop chains on my mountain bike, and I ride on blacks and double blacks at speed. My gravel bike doesn’t see the same roughness, is set up as a one by, and never dropped a chain. If you are dropping, your chain guide will definitely keep the chain on the ring, but it is disguising other issues.

  3. Looks great. But if you’re dropping your chain you have a problem, either worn out hardware or something is bend. If installed correctly the chain should never drop.
