Got to say the funniest part of bike commuting is the challenging weather. The weather that makes everyone call you crazy. Commuted the last 10 years and maybe 5-6 with studs during snow/ice. This bridge has been closed to vehicles for a couple years so no treatment, last year was a sheet of ice for a couple days. In other areas I’ve had drivers try to drive behind me and not make it, I bet they were scratching their heads on that one. This is a cheap goodwill bike with Klondikes that cost more than it did.
Then there’s the rain, wind and whatever Mother Nature has in mind… Kansas here so it’s a wide range.

I just started commuting in the winter this year, and I find the challenge pretty addictive. The weather in the mornings, like conditions you’ve described vary so much.
