Loved giving gravel or more like off-road cycling a go with these lovely girls! I defo prefer the smooth roads, but it’s nice to mix things up and have some adventures!
Thank you so much for watching, if you can spare a second to hit subscribe with your pinky that would be awesome.

That left brake…
fab news i want to tell you
Buy a trye key trye lever 👌🏻
Those tyres would be great for tubeless, I converted my MTB 10 years ago and would never go back to tubes.
Amy your friends both male & female take on some terrible "gravel" rides This videos one I wouldn't ride in the sunshine let alone in autumn. Re your tyres they appear to be too light for those tracks and with the hole in that tyre Tubeless a plug was not going to fix it and end up with sealant all over your bike and yourself. Stick to riding with your personal mechanic aka Kyle
With your spare tube carry a contact lens case filled with washing liquid so when you get to the tight part of the tyre lubricate the rim and tyre edge so it slips over the rim easy always works for me as my wheels/tyres are a very tight fit.
Remember that a small number of miles of this kind of riding gives your body a workout equivalent to a lot longer road ride. And it's fun ! After over half a century of taking tyres on and off I find they are a LOT tighter than they used to be. I guess it's because these days they need to take 120psi without popping off the rim.
Don't let it put you off Amy, we have endless conversations in our club about the P word or as we refer to it, "she cannot be named" Lol!
No tears this time! So winning!
Miss Amy, First off, Thank you for a fantastic video. Trail rides are so much fun. For you get to be a kid again getting dirty and having fun. Bummer bout the tire. I would like to make a suggestion on fixing a flat. Find an old used rim and a trash tire/tube and practice getting the tire off the rim and replacing the tube then resetting the tire a few times. This will help you build confidence and knowledge so when it does happen on a ride it will be no problem. Hope your walk with Chester was grand.
Falling off your bike off road is usually a lot less painful than on the road and you have survived two incidents with cars. I ride as much on gravel as I can to avoid road riding . Luckily I have hundreads of miles of gravel routes near me in South Wales.
I don't know how susceptible you are to the N+1 problem with bikes, but I'd say you're better off with a hardtail mtb before a gravel bike for building confidence off road, especially muddy conditions. Your weight is further back, the handling is less twitchy and the handlebars are wider. Downside is that it would probably feel slow, especially given how much road riding you do!
👍
Amy – It seems you need tires with a more aggressive, knobby tread in for better grip in those muddy / winter conditions. Those stock tires are probably for dry conditions.
Tight combination,
wheel-tyre. Seek alternatives.
Make a note. Avoid!

I use to call for help – recently mended a friends puncture on a ride using a tyre glider- was so proud !! with two previous broken wrists could never use tyre levers. 😀
Get a Gerber Dime multitool (its small and weighs nothing) – it has pliers and other useful stuff and a Dyna plug to fix the puncture. No need top remove the tyre. 👍
Great video Amy. That mental health stuff is great – the amount of people who struggle and say nothing is scary. Can’t Nige or someone show you how to them tyres? It’s only technique, doesn’t need any strength or iron man fingers. I was watching that video thinking ‘give it a push there, so close!’ It is harder in the winter though. Have you got a spare wheel and tyre in the house you can practise on? If ever you’re near the Humber Bridge we’ll fix up a tyre fitting training session.
I stopped using tubeless rims and tyres for this very reason. Effin nightmare getting them on and off especially in the cold!
What to do… buy the tyre glider amy you wouldn't regret it.
Go tubeless! For gravel it's a no brainer!
It must be annoying getting mansplained all the time. But …. go tubeless. I’ve had 1 puncture all year on all sorts of daft surfaces on both bikes (road and gravel) 14000km so far. Game changer.
Hello Amy, there's a tool you can buy called a helping hand that helps with getting tyres on and off the rims, its awesome
