I know it fits as it’s a like for like replacement (and I also now know i shouldn’t have removed it in the first place 🤦♂️) but I can’t for the life of me get the barb into the hose. Please help.
If you have a bleed kit there should be a two-piece plastic block you can use to grip the hose while you tap the barb in with a hammer.

Heat the barb with a lighter (hold the fitting with pliers), hold the hose in a vice block, hammer in the fitting.
Magura sell something like a chain tool that holds the parts and pushes the barb into the hose but I find the hammer easier

It looks like you’ve got the nut with the barb and probably the olive all together and the hose seperate. It’s best practice to just use a new barb and olive every time, they’re not meant to be reusable and it’s ~$5 in parts.
The barb won’t go through the space between the yellow blocks whilst clamped
So it’s small readjustments and tappy tap tap with heat

What brake is that for?

I work with Magura brakes all the time at work. I use a barb press and it goes in easily. In a pinch, clamp the hose between the yellow blocks, hold the end you intend to insert in boiling water for a minute, the try to tap it in with a hammer. Super difficult without the correct tools. https://i.ytimg.com/vi/4Bpy2hnmiZE/maxresdefault.jpg

The proper way to set a barb is with a [hydraulic barb tool](https://www.parktool.com/en-us/product/hydraulic-barb-tool-hbt-1) or equivalent tool. The less proper way is with [hydraulic tubing vice block](https://www.ebay.com/itm/164157133765?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=YmfTgeKrS5a&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=A25dLqwgRr-&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY) and a soft tipped mallet. I’ve done this a few times and it’s been fine.
