After my wife got a DSX last month, we welcomed another Marin into the house. A 2024 Marin Gestalt 2.
It’s a 50cm with a full GRX 400 groupset. First thing I did was change the heavy stock tires(1.4kg for the pair!) and put on a set of 32mm Panaracer Gravelking slicks from my pervious bike which was a Nicasio. Weight dropped to 10.2kg with pedals. Also changed the handlebar to a 38cm, down from 42cm. Fits my 5’7″ build like a glove now.
The bike is an absolute blast, with a geometry well suited to gravel and long endurance rides. Also, this is the first time I’m using hydraulic brakes on a drop bar, and it is such a blessing to feather-touch the bike to a stop, particularly since I live in a hilly area. Don’t see myself ever going back to mechanical disc brakes.
