  1. I could imagine cycling 200 miles in 16 hours as, when younger (about 40), I did a 100 miler organised round trip from Salisbury via Bath, which was definitely not flat. I think I took about 7 hours 20 minutes, including the 30 minute compulsory stop in Bath. I could never, ever have run for that length of time. I'm pretty sure in those days I could have managed 200 miles, but I might have got a bit bored. I would suggest that the 200 mile cycle ride is within the physical capability of most people if they trained for it, but the same is not true of a 100km run.

  2. I have that very issue with my shoes. I'm fairly new to cycling in the grand scheme. The only thing I've found to fix my problem was to get shoes too big for me.
I measure at 10.5 when walking so I bought 11 but after an hour of riding maybe 2 exactly that issue came where they were numb and then coming back to what I described at string tied around my toes cutting off the circulation replacing it with pain.

I now wear size 12 with bridge support and ultegra wide back clip ins.

I can now ride 3 hours without that pain tha5s my farthest being 45miles

  3. great achievement for a relative inexperienced newbie to the sport, and just shows what you can do with a proper mindset. at age 13-19 i, (and many others in knew) regularly did the coast and back from where i lived west of leeds in the 70's, distances of 140-160miles so i can relate. I used to be amused when after even a relatively short day's ride of say 75 miles, people used to be astonished and couldnt quite believe someone actually could cycle that far lol. next you wanna try paris-brest-paris, i would have loved to have a go at it back in the day. GL and keep on pedalling !!

  4. wow this is a big acheivement!! I have been road riding for maybe 6 years now but I never do large distances. my longest is 65-70 miles which is still good but my body just ACHES after that. The sit bone ache and knee ache puts me off trying for 100. I could not imagine 200

  5. Holy cow! I been doing almost 😮100 miles a month! I can only dream doing what you do. Im in the UK and plus sized so it's good you said people bigger then you were doing this ride. I feel lonely in the cycling world as im not the typical cyclist. Thanks for this inspired me to keep smashing my goals❤

  6. Great story, great presentation, love the humour. A good job done 🥰 I'm with you: do it solo all the way. New sub here for more great vids. 👍

  7. This is brilliant 👏 you did very well. I did laugh a lot 😂😂 when you described the cramp pain in the toes and the sit bones. I had that just riding 54 miles and had 4 stops 😂😂

  8. I worked in ski resorts for a couple of years and the number of people who go from no experience to "I did the reds and blacks by day 4" is incredible. Most of them never realise how shit they are because their friends are at the same level.

  9. Well done and do agree with the solo effort is what fascinates me to ,also find cycling less punishing than running , I did a 120 miler on an old mountain bike that taught me it’s what’s on the bike that makes the difference to the quality of the bike ,have fun and happy journeys ahead

  10. Well done – I actually withdrew as I just hadn't had the chance to do any training – you'll have to bear in mind, that unlike you, I'm overweight (like 7 stone overweight), old and very unfit. Next year will be different 😁 FWIW, on the food front, when I did London to Brighton Offroad (mtb), I took the usual gels and drink tabs but also found a cornish pastie most satisfying.

  11. It does make me laugh when people tell you what to eat/drink and also when to. We're all different and have our 'own way' of getting to the finish line.
