If you have bought a new A Line between now and this past September, what are the first four digits of your serial number?
Last week, a brand new A Line arrived here with the serial number 2208**********, meaning that this bike was manufactured in August of 2022.
Brompton doesn’t build/sell based on model year so this doesn’t affect the warranty, quality or depreciation but I am curious.
Given that A Lines are built with NOS (new old stock) parts (like handlebars, brake levers, shifters, etc.) which are no longer fitted to other Brompton lines, those parts will eventually run out. When they do, I suspect that there will be no more A Lines.
At $1150, the A Line is the most affordable Brompton to buy. With the cheapest Brompton costing $1555 (2 speed C Line), if A Lines ran out tomorrow, that would boost the price of the cheapest Brompton overnight by an additional $405 for a bike with fewer gears.
Have you received an A Line produced after August of 2022? It not, it’s possible that we’re seeing the last available A Lines.
