We left Hémilly this morning after saying goodbye to our B&B hosts. The first section took us through more empty landscapes with rolling up-and-down hills.
At Mittersheim, we joined the cycle path along the Canal des houillères de la Sarre. It was a nice relief from the climbing, but the smell was dreadful. It smelled heavily of dead fish, likely due to a botulism infection in the water.
We left the canal at Heming, climbing up and down the hills again towards Lorquin. From there, we followed an old converted railway track all the way into Abreschviller to finish the day.
We are officially getting closer to the Vosges Mountains now.
