The GSPORT rib cage rim is arguably one of, if the best rim for BMX street riding. That’s why you see it on almost every proper custom build (GSPORT rims in general). But just recently, I remembered that ÉCLAT had released a Carbon Fiber rim which was designed for freestyle BMX riding. It’s noticeably lighter than anything GSPORT has to offer and is probably as strong (if not stronger) too.
On paper, the Éclat carbon fiber rim is the best rim in freestyle BMX. But do you think it is justified for it to be priced more than triple the price of the GSPORT rib cage rim? Do you think it’s worth the investment? What are your thoughts about the ÉCLAT Carbonic Rim?

Take it from me, I’ve sold both rims and built both for customers. The carbonic isn’t the better rim, to fragile on the sidewalls and the weight saving is negligible, only reason customers have genuinely bought one, is to show off that they can afford it. Side note the eclat rim is identical to the same rim they offer under their radio bikes brand for racing so regardless of how they market it, it’s in actual fact not necessarily a freestyle specific rim. Other than that the carbonic makes an interesting rumble like sound unlike anything else in bmx, and it’s definitely a talking point, however it’s not worth the extra spend whatsoever. I’m fine with technical improvements by design or materials in freestyle, and this isn’t one that as it stands makes any notable difference to the rider.
