The Sonoplasts – aka singer Amy Kakoura, violinist Simon Chalk & composer/pianist Derek Nisbet – made their debut in 2021 live on BBC Radio 3 and play a distinctive blend of chamber folk noir, story-telling songs and a few choice covers. Based in Coventry, UK, writer-collaborators include Bard of Barnsley Ian McMillan, Costa winning author Cath O’Flynn and poet/rapper John Bernard. Song Cycle is their debut album of songs of time and place and has been described as being “playful, profound, a gentle shout of joy.”
