I’m sure this has been asked a million times….but there are 2 bikes I’m considering that just went on sale for Black Friday. I typically ride flow type trails with some rocks and small rollers. I live in PA, and we have some great trails near us. This is not for rail trail style riding.

I’m 6’4″, so I need an XL (or even XLL) in a few of the other brands the bike shop told me about. What are your thoughts on those 2 bikes – for $1100 and $1200, they seem hard to beat!
Or any other suggestions in that price range? I’m really trying to keep the price down since I’m just starting up; if I stick with it, I’ll upgrade the bike and or components. I am pretty handy and know my way around a bike, so I will do most of the maintenance myself…so the support of a LBS isn’t as important – not to put them down at all!

I like the spec better on the Sisku
I would still support LBS and get the Giant. For an XL, the lifetime warranty is a good idea.
Giant makes great bikes at a great price point. I like the idea of supporting an LBS as well. Plus, when you buy from an LBS you get to build a relationship with them if they also do some of your bike”s service.
As an aside, I know some people shit on these types of posts. Personally I find them to be additive since these conversations are common in real life MTB.
Good points by both of the other posters. I don’t think you can go wrong with either bike, but my pick would be the Polygon. The suspension is better.
