Mixtes are great touring bikes. They’re not women’s frames, though when I sold bikes, could never sell one to a man. They’re intended to be able to load up with a rack on the back. The extra stays make the rear triangle extra stiff for touring, plus if you have a tall load you can step through without dumping the bike over. Centerpull brakes also good for stopping a heavy load.
It’s a French design.
