I am some hybrid of Tian Shan traverse + Celestial Divide I would like to try this September from east to west (ending in Osh).
I am on rather heavy gravel bike, but I like climbing, have good gear ratio and 50 mm tires (57 front).
Do I need any permits for this?
Any other advices on which section might be most critical to cross in any way?

Great resource for this area would be https://globalbikepacker.com/. The guy who runs it is based out of Bishkek in Kyrgyzstan. Actually runs a hostel called Apple hostel. He’s super experienced with the routes in the area and is actually a bikepacking coach when he’s not running the hostel. He’s been a huge help to my group which is biking this area right now.
