I only got to ride one afternoon. Legs were really toasty from running 10k's every morning and swimming with fins for two hours the day prior and so I rented an e-bike to be on the safe side. This is the Honaloapilani Highway along the north coast of West Maui.
My face started to hurt half way through the ride because I was smiling the whole way. Couldn't believe I was actually in this amazing place. If you've wanted to go then do it. I'm already planning a trip back.

Like any sensible person facing down 40, I decided to do something crazy in the year I turn 40 and am currently planning to try to bike up Haleakala on Maui. I’ve been to the island many times, but never cycled on it. This post giving me the motivation I need to keep going.
Was there in ‘94 , stayed at the Grand Waikapu , and rented a red Ferrari 328 GTSI. Great trip my boss paid for including the car. Next time I go on my own money, I’ll try the e-bike.
One of my favorite places to ride. So wanna go back there and do it again. Kihei to Lahaina and back is just great.
I’m going to get downvoted but I did the 100k ish loop on the smaller lanai figure 8 and I was highly disappointed. Some sections of the road were covered with debris— glass, Metairie, sh** like that, very heavy traffic in a few spots, and I had 2 flats probably from the tiny sharp pieces of corral that are on the road. I prefer biking where I live.
