i have these oury single compound grips that ripped when they landed on the side since i had no bar end covers. do i need to install a plug on top of the grip that’s covered or just replace the grip?

For single compound grips you can stick a coin, which matches the size of handlebar diameter into the grips, to avoid damages like that.
I personally prefer grips with clamps, easier to handle imo.
