Hi all. I ride and I also make iOS apps. Got sick of opening three weather apps every morning and still getting it wrong, so I built one for myself and figured I'd share it. It's called RideReady.
You set up your bike and tell it what kind of weather you're okay with. Then every day it gives you a score out of 100. Heat, rain, wind, how much daylight is left. It also shows you what dragged the score down so you can look at it and go "nah, I'll still ride."
The GPX thing is probably more useful for the bikepacking crowd. You import a route and it checks the weather along the route instead of just where you live. It works out roughly when you'll get to each part based on the climbs, then looks at the forecast for that spot at that time. So hour six of your ride gets hour six's weather instead of this morning's. Leaving at 5am vs 8am on the same route can give you a totally different answer, which matters way more on a 100k than on a quick loop.
It can also just tell you what time to leave. That was the bit I actually wanted. Not "is it going to rain today" but "what time do I need to go so I'm down from the mountain before it does."
One thing I made sure of: if the forecast doesn't cover part of your route it just says so and shows you how much it actually got. Didn't want it guessing and me finding out the hard way.
I'll put the appstore link in the comment for you to try and its Free!!

> Fair-weather riding is a luxury reserved for Sunday afternoons and wide boulevards. Those who ride in foul weather ā be it cold, wet, or inordinately hot ā are members of a special club of riders who, on the morning of a big ride, pull back the curtain to check the weather and, upon seeing rain falling from the skies, allow a wry smile to spread across their face. This is a rider who loves the work.
I only check the weather to see how to dress when I’m in the mood to ride.
Iām really interested in this! How can I d/l and support?
