Join me on the first hot leg of my long journey south. Over 30 kilograms of gear, Dutch back roads, and the border slowly getting closer.
The ride starts in the north of the Netherlands and works its way toward Kleve, Germany, passing Nijverdal, the Holterberg, Doetinchem, and finally the Rhine River crossing. It was proper summer heat the whole way, and with carrying all the weight, the ride felt heavier, slower, and more real as the road changed from Dutch back roads to German asphalt.
