  1. Looks like a scratch to be honest. I’d ask a professional if you’re uncertain. Usually doesn’t crack On the weld.

  2. Hard to tell if it’s a crack or crease but either way that hole is concerning. Looks like porosity or maybe bad paint job.

That’s a pretty high stress area if it is a crack though so if you do ride it just keep an eye on it regularly, maybe draw a circle with sharpie around it to see if the crack is getting bigger

  3. Usualy when it cracs the spot is outside of weld, because weld is stronger tham metal. Thats probably a scratch.

  4. I had a similar crack in my neuron last year but along the chain stay. They wanted the whole bike mailed in but I stripped it and sent in the frame only. I was worried I’d end up getting screwed but they ended up cutting me a check as they were no longer making that generation. It took some time (a month or so) and so I bought a new bike in the mean time.

Engineer here. Like others said it looks like a poor weld that wasn’t cleaned up. Normally the welder, if they saw this, would grind and polish the surface down a little bit to remove the fracture because it can propagate later.

If they have to remove too much of a layer they’d have to scrap it and start over for something like this, a commercial item where a customer can get hurt.

I recommend taking it to an AWS certified welder and have them give you their opinion. It might be possible to clean it up.
