  1. Shorter? Take a train for a bit? You could e.g. take a train from Berlin to say Osnabrück or Münster and start cycling from there. Or do the first bit to Stendal (from Berlin and hop on a train there). In that way you’ll still see a bit of all the countries, but leave out quite a bit of Germany. I would try to find a cheap longer-distance direct train to cut a bit.

You could follow the Mittellandkanal through Germany. I don’t know it personally, but heard good things. That would be easy miles for a long stretch of Germany. Basically no elevations, and still brings you by some interesting cities.

Also, for NRW there are a lot of former railways that are really pleasant and also useful to cover ground. A lot around the Ruhr, but between Düsseldorf/Cologne and Aachen too.

All else probably depends on your ideas of what those fun parts are.

Don’t go all the way to Paris or take a train for some part of it. You don’t wanna do 1000km alongside the Autobahn just for the sake of saying you rode Berlin to Paris all in one go.

  4. Getting in and out of Paris is a pain. Take the RER for the last 30km or so. It’ll save you a day.
