Edit: should probably add that with that amount of wear I’d look at the entire drivetrain. With the rust on that chain I suspect it was probably a little underlubed. But the chainring, chain, and cassette are all going to wear in together so if you replace just one part you run the risk of a skipping chain or wearing out the replaced component faster.

It’s worn. Time to replace it if you’re skipping.

Yes FSA Megatooth Chainrings (as written on your ring) look like this from factory. Yours got some wear already but nothing to worry

It’s normal for it to wear like that, yes. It means it’s time to replace it.

Yeah, when it’s worn totally out, it is. 😅

those deep teeth help keep the chain on (since you don’t have a front derailleur)

Lol no, replace your while drive train and lube your chain more
Edit, apparently megatooth ships with those ridiculous sharp teeth. Not sure why, but maybe thats not as worn as it looks.

That is super worn out, you definitely got your money’s worth out of it. New chainring, and chain. Might want to check your cassette for wear as well.

It’s a preloved bike forsure but I’ll see what the bike shop says. The cassette is nowhere near as sharp as I’m used to

if the megatooth rings really do ship pointy like that from factory, kinda wild there’s zero universal way to eyeball wear anymore, you basically need a chain checker and just trust the numbers over how it looks

She’s dead Jim. Replace it. Check the chain and cassette while you’re at it.

This is a new one. I bought because I thought my old one was worn out some thousand km ago – I still ride the old one
