I started my ride from the Wendover Arm at Halton, Buckinghamshire, and then made my way through the country lanes and woods of the Chiltern Hills until I came to the canal by Tring Station. It was such a nice ride until I reached the Aylesbury Arm. That got so frustrating, and it shows on the video!

Should be a lot more comfortable after tomorrow (Friday 17 July).
Almost a full week of 24's and 25's instead of the searing 30's of late.
I may even get to go out and do my favourite Ridgeway walk between Tring and Wendover.
That's my neck of he woods – literally, in the early part of your video. I live in Buckland and regularly walk the canal paths either alone or with a Simply Walk group. The Aylesbury arm near us is a disaster and has been for over five years. I've nearly come a cropper both walking and on a bike so avoid it.
What a lovely bike ride! Particularly in the shade alongside the GU Canal with the dappled sunlight shining through the trees. Interesting bit of trivia – Did you know that Aston Martin cars originally got their name from winning hill climb competitions held on Aston Hill? The Aston Martin cars were, and still are, known for their powerful engines. The Aylesbury arm of the GU Canal looked pretty tight to get along on a bike. You'd think they'd spend some money and cut the brambles and trees right back and make a proper job of making the towpath wider. I take it you wheeled your bike down underneath some of the bridges on the Aylesbury arm because you didn't fancy an inadvertent swim in the canal with your bike! D'you know if that Green Park education centre still present next to the canal just off Stablebridge Rd?
Stunning ride Karl. Thanks for sharing. Apart from that section of the Aylesbury arm of the canal ! Definitely worth adding to my to-do list !! I rode down the Aylesbury arm earlier this week but thankfully came off the canal before the fallen tree. Hopefully someone will a chain saw sees this video !

The Aylesbury Arm has been totally neglected by the CRT for years and it shows. It's a no go in the winter due to the fact the towpath gets waterlogged and in the summer where it's death by bramble. I once did a walk that cut across to Aston Clinton from Puttenham and the public footpaths were totally blackthorn ridden. Such a shame. Thanks for sharing – always love the footage.

I've cycled down the Dancer's End nature reserve hill a few. times. Wouldn't fancy cycling up it.
Is that the trackbed of the old Cheddington to Aylesbury railway you are on at the end?
