Hi guys, brand new to cycling and wanted to dip my toes into road cycling for some cardio and maybe even make a serious hobby out of it eventually that’ll get me out of the house more! Seems to be a lot of mixed information out there on the worth of older 2nd hand road cycles so just thought I’d see what you guys thought about this for the price? Converted from AUD to USD. Yeah. If it really is in great condition it’s worth that.
I would say that’s a fair price for a private sale. Offer $250 to see if comes down some, if not I would pay the asking price.
I had a mechanical 105 of this era. It’s not a very crisp shifter like their Ultegra but it gets the job done. Something you may want to upgrade down the road. There is nothing wrong with rim brakes. They may take longer to stop when wet. Ask your local bike shop about brake pad supply but it should not be a problem.
Overall it’s a good bike that should get you a lot of smiles per miles.
You have to inspect the carbon VERY carefully for cracks and chips. If it’s a carbon steering tube the fork must be removed to inspect also. Older carbon components (this fork could be 20 years old) were not as good as modern ones an a failed fork can be a nasty thing.
