im a few days into my trip and i have already learned alot.

so far:
1. the classic mistake of packing too much
2. tires tires tires
3. dogs?!?
4. humidty over heat

i fear im too heavy for my liking but i made my bed and shall lie in it. definitely thinking i need a new tent for 3 reasons (size, weight, space) i also think going from panniers to a saddle bag is my next move. im aware its quite stereotypical for the bikepacking community but i can see why.

my route has included alot more paved roads than id like to admit. poor planning on my part with not inspecting with street view ect ect, but these tires are kicking my ass when it comes to an incline over 20%. the rolling resistance is atrocious as well but im hoping and thinking the knobs will wear over time and help a bit. definitely want to slim down in the future.

people were not kidding about dogs hating bikers. i thought i might get a bark or two but not a chase and pray.

the humidity has also been a bit of a nuisance so far.. i seem to be shiny and genuinely soaked by the end of my days. i feel like every drop of water i drink is sweated out within 30 seconds. but not much i can do about that.

overall the trip has already been full of ups and downs and ive learned alot for future trips which im appreciative of but also going through it kind of blows.
the pure and effortless beauty that switzerland holds is truly ineffable and i cant get enough. italy starts tomorrow and i can say im excited for what it holds.
the biggest thing ive come to realize is that touring is mind over matter sometimes and has pushed me in ways i didnt know i needed.

Sick. Would love to hear your reasonings on wanting to ditch panniers for saddle bag, and what you wouldn’t take with you next time. Or anything you feel has become essential

  2. Yo what is that garage?? I see at least a million dollars in Ferraris hanging out in there
