Putting kids Cyclone 40cm bike together. I’m stuck on how this cord is meant to go into the break lever. The instructions aren’t particularly helpful. Any assistance would be appreciated!

Pull it out of the housing, put into place by having the cable go through the slot, release
Can you take a couple more pictures from further back? I’d have to assume the brake line was run incorrectly at some point. You’d want that cable housing to get to the lever.

You need to pull the metal blob on the end of the cable through a slot in the lever. You may also have to release the brakes at the calliper
Squeeze the brake to expose the inside of the mechanism and pull on the cylinder at the end of the brake cable to expose some of the steel cable. The cylinder shouldn’t need to go through that hole, it should just fit into the mechanism and the steel cable should fall into a small channel in the plastic. The metal part on the end of the rubber hose definitely does fit into that hole though. If you’re confused, post pictures of the mechanism with the brake pulled.
There are two kinds of end fittings as standard. If you can’t make it fit it’s possible someone has put on the wrong one. Can’t tell which one you need from the picture.
The basic method is to create some slack. Pull the end nipple so some inner cable is exposed. Slot the nipple into the lever. Adjust to remove the slack.
Just to note, if you are googling instructions then it’s “brake” , not “break”
Kid’s bikes always throw me off too because the levers are way smaller and sometimes weirdly different from adult stuff. From what I can see in your pic, that silver barrel fitting on the end of the cable is what needs to seat into the lever body itself, not just dangle through the slot. Try squeezing the brake lever and looking inside the mechanism, you’ll usually see a small groove or notch where that barrel is supposed to click into place. The actual inner wire then just rides through the opening you were pointing at.
If it’s not lining up, grab the barrel end and pull it outward to create some slack in the housing, then maneuver it into position before letting the tension back. Sometimes you gotta release the brake at the caliper end first to give yourself enough cable to work with. Also seconding the spelling note, brake not break, you’ll find way better results googling it that way lol.
