After reaching Canterbury and officially beginning the Via Francigena pilgrimage, Day 5 takes me on the final ride across England to the famous White Cliffs of Dover.

Leaving Canterbury behind, I follow centuries-old pilgrimage routes through the Kent countryside before arriving in the historic port of Dover. Along the way I reflect on the long history of pilgrims who travelled this same route on their journey towards Rome, visit the medieval Maison Dieu, and prepare to leave England for mainland Europe.

This episode marks the end of the English chapter of the Via Francigena and the beginning of the journey across continental Europe.

A slow cinematic travel documentary following the historic Via Francigena from London to Rome by bicycle.
