Hi,

Planning first bikepacking adventure with my girlfriend on a Scottish island off the west coast.

We've decided that our current storage capacity is on the low side, so planning on adding fork bags.

I'm not familiar with them at all, and unfortunately I'm away from home at the moment so can't look over the bike.

Is anyone familiar with these forks? Is it likely that there are pre-drilled and tapped holes under the stickers on these forks, for mounting?

If not, what's the best solution for mounting fork cages when there are no factory-prepared fixings/holes?

This is the best and only pic I have of the bike…

Also, the cage I'm looking at is a basic/cheap one from bikeinn with 3 mounting holes.

Any help will be much appreciated.

  1. There are not holes for mounting cages on your suspension fork!

I use these: [Suspension Fork Mounts – Tailfin Cycling](https://www.tailfin.cc/product/cargo-cage-system/suspension-fork-mounts/suspension-fork-mount/?srsltid=AfmBOorToo2JA8zP6AG8W0GKOYMbgXhBhWT97Gx8UcrrMCi70ehiNvna&v=5435c69ed3bc)

And/or these: [Universal Support Bolt – King Cage](https://kingcage.com/en-ca/products/universal-support-bolt?srsltid=AfmBOop14Foyn1aPa67AIliUjbE2nxnptzpF0vMoZ7hPEsatuPEhN4HP)

The Tailfinn mounts are slicker, especially if you want to mount more than one thing to each fork leg, but I don’t like how far they hold things from the fork leg so I have them set at a weird angle. This is why I switched to the King Cage USB system.

You are definitely adding unsprung weight to your fork which isn’t great, but I don’t notice the effect when I have a couple litres of water on the fork.

  2. You’ll definitely need an adapter to mount something to the forks. But also, please check that front mudguard – it doesn’t look the right shape for your bike and doesn’t look like it has enough clearance at the front of you were to bottom out the fork. You might be better getting one that attaches to the fork arch
