Hi bikepackers!

In a week I’ll be going on my first big bikepacking trip. 3 weeks through the balkan.

I’m slowly packing up the bike and was wondering where you guys pack what. Right now my bike is packed as follows:

Left fork: tent

Right fork: air mattress and sleeping bag

Frame bag: basically everything I don’t want to use; spare parts, tools, rain coat, first aid kit, bike lock, pump

Saddle bag: all camping essentials; stove, gas, cooking pot, 4 freezedried food packs, coffee maker, coffee, gas, little solar panel, powerbank

Handlebar luggage (not in picture): clothes, pillow, sleeping bag liner, toiletries, towels

I’m especially doubting the saddlebag. It’s very wobbly and I’m afraid it’s a bit too heavy. It comes in just under 4 kgs right now.

Any tips on how to improve my setup are welcome!

  1. Heavy stuff goes center-low. Whatever you can fit, put it in the frame bag.

If you pack stuff like the rain coat into the saddle bag, just make sure it’s easy to grab.

Make sure you have dry and wet packs allocated and separated. No one wants a wet sleeping bag.

I have the same frame bag:

    – top zipper: 2l drinking reservoir (came in super handy for hot swiss mountain passes last month) + med kit + charger cables + towel

    – bottom zipper: chafing cream + power bank + drip wax + tools + sunscreen

    Fork bags I do:

    1. tent (without poles ofc) + puffer
    2. Sleeping mat + liner + trailrunning gear

  4. I’d def get a top tube bag as well for the powerbank/phone and snacks. Otherwise looks good. How visible is the rear light tucked away beneath the saddle bag?

Where do you plan on storing food for grocery runs btw?

  5. Frame bag: repair kit, gas cartridge, tent pole, bike lock, external battery, cook set,

Cargo cages: I put the fly of my tent in one and my rain clothes in the other,

Saddle bag: everything else, food, clothes, toiletry, sleeping pad, sleeping bag.
