This is depressing but honestly, I stopped yelling at drivers after my friend was shot and killed by a driver. They were biking home from work late at night, mouthed off to someone driving irresponsibly, and the teens who had stolen the car for a joy ride killed my friend. They should have turned 28 that year.
You can look up Dzhoy Zuckerman if you want to learn more about what a great person they were. No matter how mad you get on your bike, risking your life isn’t worth it.

Realize that you are not responsible for their anger and vice versa; the only thing you can control is how you react. My rides got better when I stopped trying to police other’s behavior and started watching my own. If someone drives carelessly or aggressively, I give them space or let them pass. I’d much rather have them as far away from me as possible than to try and prove a point. If someone yells at me or threatens me I smile at them and wave, or I just ignore them. It has far more to do with them as a person than it does with me and what I’m doing.
The thing to remember too is that this takes practice. Getting angry when someone carelessly threatens your safety is normal, but it doesn’t change the situation. Learning to deescalate is a skill. Be ready to forgive yourself if someone gets under your skin. If there’s problem areas on your route try and find alternatives with calmer streets or safer intersections. It’s worth it for the peace of mind, and if it’s a longer route even better! Riding is supposed to be fun anyway, might as well do more of it.

I am able to let it go because I’ve realized that there’s very little I can do to change the other person. The only way they are going to understand my POV is by becoming a cyclist themselves. Usually we are both going so fast that there isn’t time to have any meaningful communication, and in my experience, carbrains aren’t going to understand your arguments. Like, do I think I am going to *make* this person become a good driver?
The other thing I do to reduce my anger is to control the situation as best I can. I do things such as taking the lane when it’s not safe to pass (for example, I never ride in the door zone unless going slowly, for example, uphill), I monitor cars using a helmet mirror, if I don’t think I will be given space then I take it by drifting left as they approach, causing them to slow and to move left, then I drift right as they pass to create the space that they fail to give me. I don’t do any of this to annoy drivers, it is to take the space I need for my safety. When it is safe for drivers to pass, I let them do so. I communicate by pointing at the parked cars to let them know why I’m not using the “perfectly good” bike lane, or at the fallen tree branches or whatever. When I do get honked at, I wave using all fingers as if it was a friend honking hello (and in fact, it has been, a handful of times). Also, I have mellowed in my old age. Young me was a lot less mellow. So all you have to do is survive to old age and you won’t be so angry, lol.

My friend does this. She’s a very strong and tall butch. She also carries a large u lock in back pocket and several knives. I think she could fuck most people up.
