My friend needed a touring/gravel bike, so I found him this awesome Wheeler trekking bike with Tange tubing and the best paint job ever on marketplace for €50!
One rebuild later and voilá, a super buttery smooth riding gravel bike on a budget, it'll be turned into a real touring bike later with the addition of a custom brazed stainless steel rack and stainless steel fenders.

That magenta paint is the star here, but Tange tubing at €50 is a steal. Wheeler frames from that era were built like tanks, so repurposing one as a gravel platform just makes sense. The cockpit shot is what sold me, those SRAM shifters look right at home against the older tubing and the deep purple frame.
Curious how the brazed rack and fenders turn out, stainless work isn’t cheap but it’ll outlive everything else on the bike by decades. A €50 find for a friend commission is also the kind of budget constraint that forces you to actually build something with character instead of just bolting catalog parts onto a fresh frame. The whole thing has that proper xbiking energy of making something weird and good out of parts nobody else wanted.
Drop down handle bars always kill it for me but all in all, nice.
