While cleaning my carbon seatpost, I noticed these marks in the clamping area. Is this normal? Could this be abrasion from carbon paste? The seatpost feels a bit rough in those spots, but it doesn’t feel dented. I’ve tightened the seatpost to 5 Nm.

Yes, it’s practically grease filled with sandpaper grains to improve grip without increasing clamping forces

That and any other dirt and grit that gets in there.
