This is the second time shock has done this since I bought the bike (Feb 2025). First time was within first 10 rides (July 2025). Rockshox did a full service under warranty. Shock was fine until a few days ago. The bike has a total of 488 km on it.

Since I got it serviced the first time I have maybe done 10-15 trail rides and 2 bike park days. I do not think I am pushing the bike beyond it's capabilities. This should be well under the 100 or 200 service intervals for these shocks.

I'm wondering if other people have had any issues with the vivid air? From what I understand it's supposed to be a durable robust shock. Maybe the frame is an issue for the shock? Is this the type of service intervals I should be expecting out of this shock?

I checked all the pivots and they are all good as well.

I'm going to contact my LBS and see what rockshox will say but this doesn't seem right for a bike that hasn't been ridden much at all…

Wondering if there is any advice/ideas people have.

  1. Something weird’s going on there for sure unless you’ve been hucking off silly stuff.

Frame alignment would be something I’d check. The only time I’ve had a frame eat a shock like that was then it was misaligned out of factory and was replaced on warranty.

It’s a yoke frame and they do transmit alot of shear force through the shock, but you usually see issues with that after a couple of years as the shaft wears from all the lateral loading.
