  1. I’ve never seen this before. Looks like one of those little plastic cars you moved with your feet that many of us had when we were kids.

  2. We don’t have those here but I’ve heard a lot about them. It’s crazy that they’re allowed to use bike lanes. It just shows how little everyone thinks of cyclists.

  3. What is that thing? A delivery bot or something?

I wonder if you could get some regulations set up to keep those things out of the bike lane. Seems like it should be on the sidewalk to me.

Or just push it into the car lane and let them deal with it.

  4. These things are not ready for prime time. Yet they’re putting them on the road for beta testing and the public has to deal with the bugs.

  5. DoorDash is testing their variety in a town I bike through. They have people following them on e-bikes, and they go a lot slower than I do. It is incredibly annoying.

They are currently operating within a geofenced area and are theoretically limited to 5mph on sidewalks, 16mph in bike lanes, and 20mph on streets.

I’m in Fremont’s cycling club and they actually did approach us for feedback, though I don’t think the club president passed along my “absolutely not” message. They approached some local advocacy groups as well, who passed along the point that “one fewer car” is not really accurate because in many parts of the area the deliveries were already happening by bike.

i hqve started to see some in my city.  they look a little different.  it was my understanding that they stay on the sidewalk.  they should not be in the bike path except to cross

the other day there was a very nice BMW blocking the bike lane (Ohio Ave. in West LA). I rode up and asked the guy standing on the sidewalk “why you parked in the bike lane?” he was trying to fix a delivery robot that was stuck on the sidewalk and he was so distressed! I swear this dystopia never stops getting worse

They have been testing one of these in my neighborhood for about 5-7yrs now with some techs on ebikes monitoring and gathering data (used to be golf carts)…

It’s doordash but I have never seen it making a delivery in my area…it’s always the same loop over and over again now for years…the bors have changed slightly over the years but they look basically like this

  9. Haven’t seen them where I’m at, but I’ll be pushing them over if I ever do. These things don’t belong in bike lanes.

If they were blocking a lane of cars, there would be a law against them in about 3 days.
